Breakfast with the Chiefs

Fundraising EventJune 13, 2026 7:30 AMHyatt Regency Calgary 700 Centre Street S. Calgary

Join the Indigenous People's Caucus fundraiser breakfast on Saturday, June 13, 2026, to hear a panel of Alberta Chiefs discuss Treaty Rights and Responsibilities, why separation won't work, and ideas on how to be a good ally.

Chief Sheldon Sunshine of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation (Treaty 8) filed a court injunction challenging the constitutionality of a separatist referendum and how it violates Treaty Rights. Chief Desmond Bull of Louis Bull Tribe (Treaty 6) is one of the Chiefs who met with King Charles III to reaffirm the Treaty relationship between First Nations and the Crown, and will explain the importance of that visit in the face of separatism. Chief Troy Knowlton of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Treaty 7) will discuss recent court rulings. All three Chiefs will also share their ideas on how to be a good ally in today's political climate.

Join us for a lively morning of learning, strategy and pancakes at the Hyatt Regency Calgary Hotel from 8:00 – 9:30. Doors open at 7:30am. Ticket are $40 and can be purchased here. Open to the public but encourage those who have not purchased and NDP membership to do so. All funds raised at the breakfast will go directly to the Indigenous People's Caucus in support of all Indigenous candidates in the next provincial election.
